Since I was very young, on Easter morning, my parents greeted me with the words, “He is Risen”, to which I would respond with lots of fervor, “He is Risen Indeed”. Even today, my brothers greet me with these words, whether it’s on the phone or in person. My parents’ tradition lives on through us!
Yes, He is Risen! -our Lord and Savior; let us rejoice!
Do you remember, in the book of John, how Jesus appeared to his disciples? Let me remind you. “On the evening of that first day of the week, when the disciples were together, with the doors locked for fear of the Jews, Jesus came and stood among them and said, ‘Peace be with you!” After he said this, he showed them his hands and side. The disciples were overjoyed when they saw the Lord.
Again Jesus said, ‘Peace be with you! As the Father has sent me, I am sending you.’ And with that he breathed on them and said, ‘Receive the Holy Spirit. If you forgive anyone his sins, they are forgiven; if you do not forgive them, they are not forgiven.’ John 19-23″
He is sending YOU! As his disciple in this world, He is sending you! To love, to forgive, to show other people His way. The way of life. We have a lot of responsibility in this life, so let us give of ourselves, and show others the way of Christians.
He is Risen! He is Risen, Indeed!
I love the tradition of Easter morning greeting! My family uses the words, “!El vive!” Spanish for, “He lives!” My sister and I sing together (on the phone) a chorus we learned in Spanish as children every Easter morning.
It is Christ who sends us out, and Christ who goes ahead of us. Thank you, Sarah, for reminding us of the mission to which we are called! Christ is Risen! Christ is Risen indeed!
