The Light is Coming!

As prophesized in Isaiah, a messenger by the name of John(the baptizer) appeared “preaching a baptism of repentance for the forgiveness of sins…And this was his message: “After me will come one more powerful than I, the thongs of whose sandals I am not worthy to stoop down and untie. I baptize you with water, but he will baptize you with the Holy Spirit”(Mark 1:4, 7-8).

So we wait for the one who holds this power. In what form will he come? As a king–surely not as a helpless baby? And yet he comes-all must wait. We wait for the Christ child this Advent, the “light of the world”(John 8).

In the midst of a global pandemic, we await for the child that saves us. We have hope this Advent season from the awfulness of the world-wide health crisis. The Lord has heard our cries, and as Jesus said, “I am with you always, to the end of the age”(Matt. 28:20).

Lord, thank you for your prophets who foresaw the coming of Christ, who gave hope to those before us and to us now. We will await the Christ child this Season, truly the Light needed by us, your people. Lord, help us spread your Word throughout our corners of your world. In Jesus’ name we pray. Amen.
