All Things Now Living

“Let all things now living, A song of thanksgiving, To God the creator triumphantly raise, Who fashioned and made us, Protected and stayed us, Who still Guides us on to the end of our days. God’s banners are o’er us, His light goes before us, A pillar of fire shining forth in the night, Till shadows have vanished And darkness is banished, As forward we travel from light into light.”

I was thinking about this hymn as I was attempting to make my first gluten-free rolls for thanksgiving. It’s a great hymn to remember; a song of thanksgiving to God who walks with us through all the darkness that we encounter in our lives. God will sustain us through all times.

Soon we’ll be in the season of Advent, a time of waiting for the Christ child, Jesus told us that, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life (John 8:12). Try rereading the hymn. Its words are powerful to our world needing His Light, His Love; the hope that can only be found through Him.

Have a blessed Thanksgiving!

  1. Thanks, Sarah! Wish we could go to church again. It seems like forever since we have been able to worship. This has been a long season of darkness for us. Advent is welcome! Have a happy Thanksgiving! Barb

    1. Yes, Advent is especially welcome this year. We have to worship virtually.
