In my last blog, I touched on the Lord’s voice. What does that voice tell you to pursue? Romans 8:28 gives us a promise that, “And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who have been called according to his purpose.” Perhaps you have found that the Lord’s voice has led you toward a purposeful profession. Perhaps, like me, you believe the Lord’s voice has led you into a variety of roles.
There are two quotes from the Brand and Yancey book(Fearfully and Wonderfully: The Marvel of Bearing God’s Image) that I’d like to share. They speak about being called by God into service.
“The place God calls you to is the place where your deep gladness and the world’s deep hunger meet.”(Buechner)
“Moreover we know that to those who love God, who are called according to his plan, everything that happens fits into a pattern for good.”(Phillips)
And Richard Foster says in Celebration of Discipline that “God delights in showing us exciting new alternatives for the future.”
This week, let’s try to listen again for the voice of the Lord, hearing his call towards service in God’s kingdom. Perhaps you already know what that call is-perhaps you’re still discerning that call. It is a call of his purpose, not something that fulfills only our needs. But it is a call and purpose that works for our good and uses our strengths. God will call you-listen carefully.
I love those quotes! We are all called by God!
