Epiphany

Most Christians celebrate Epiphany on January 6th, as we did yesterday in our Methodist church home.  Epiphany commemorates the day when Magi from the East arrived in Bethlehem and worshipped Jesus, bringing gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.  They followed a star, looking for the Christ child; finding him in Bethlehem as prophesied by Micah seven centuries earlier.

“At personal risk, they put into action their trust in a wonder unseen.  Such is faith.  Faith lights the eye to glimpse the incomprehensible” (J. Marshall Jenkins).  The Magi put their faith and trust in a mystery finally revealed to them:  the Lord.  Isaiah speaks of the light; the light which is from the Lord.  In John 8:12, Jesus states that “I am the light of the world.  Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness but will have the light of life.”

As I put away my Christmas decorations today, I’m going to ponder this light that came into the world – the light that showed us the truth and saved us from our sin.

In closing, my book did not get published in 2018 because I was unhappy with the product.  I will be continuing my venture to complete the project with the product I desire.
